Close To My Heart Class

Hello, everyone! Just wanted to remind you all that I have scheduled a Close To My Heart class for us in February 2008. I know this is a little advance notice so I will, of course, be reminding all of you as we get into the new year. The consultant for CTMH is Renee, a gal I work with, and with whom I recently attended a Scrap-tober event with. We had a great time and I know that you will all fall in love with her too! See you all at our next workshop, November 17th. Jimie

October Workshop

We all had such a great time at our October workshop that the time just flew by. This workshop was a little different in that we invitied a couple of gals who do Stampin' Up to come and teach us how to make an exploding scrapbook box, which they did, plus had us make four cards as well. Carrie (my cousin) and Jenna were fun and informative and did a great job with us slow learners. (I had actually learned how to make the box from a dear friend at work, Renee, who is a Close To My Heart consultant, and wanted to share this with my group, however, only having done the box once with my friend I wasn't confidant enough to show them how so we brought in the experts.)

The box is easy to do but very time consuming and detailed but when you are finished you have a great gift for someone or to keep for yourself. I have included some pictures of the box I made for my friend Karen who is our member-in-spirit. The first picture is the finished product and the second one is still under construction. The last picture shows the box folded with its lid on. It was very fun to do and turned out fabulous! We did all the stamping on the box before we put it together. I did my stamping at the workshop and then took it home and finished it with the photos and embellishments. I found it easier to complete each section then when I had finished all the sections I assembled my box by attaching all the layers.

Besides the box we made four cards, each a different theme, and of course, had a great time doing that as well. I don't do much card making -- but I like it -- it's just that I have so much scrapbooking to do that I don't get a lot of time to sit and make cards. Some of the other gals are avid card makers and do go to a lot of stamp camps. Here are a few of the cards that we made!

I did learn how I can incorporate stamping into my scrapbooking and can't wait to start using some of the tips I learned. All in all it was a great day spent having fun and being creative -- two of the things we love to do best!!!

Honorary Member of Chatty Scrapers

Our dear friend Karen Knudsen scrapbooked with us for a couple of years when she developed a condition that causes her to be highly sensitive to chemicals in the air. She has become house bound because that is the only place that she can make safe for her to be. Karen cannot be around any sort of chemical or smells such as perfume, hairspray, deodorant, laundry soap -- the list is long -- not to mention the chemicals that come in cleaning supplies, office products, etc. because they have such an adverse reaction on her and cause serious health problems for her. We miss her in our group sessions but we keep in touch with her via e-mail and phone calls and she tells me that she scraps at home when have our workshops so she is still with us in spirit. You are missed Karen ... but still here -- enjoy this site!

Good Job Jimie. This is going to be fun after I figure it out.

Our September Worksop!

Our September workshop was great -- except that I had to keep going back to my house to get things-Duh, where's the brain! Once we really got started though it was a lot of fun. Fay brought a neat box with little containers in it that she is keeping her brads, eyelets, small buttons, etc. in. It is a neat way to hold all the small items and be able to see what you are looking for and it is compact and lightweight--we're all about lightweight and compact these days! She found the box in the bead section at Walmart--a great find!

Poor Grace spent a lot of time looking for her brads, eyelets and her setting tool even though she really wasn't going to use it she just knew she had them and couldn't find them -- she eventually found the brad box but didn't find the setter --bet she left it at home - out in plain sight! Grace got a lot of work done on her album on the trip with her husband Verne and Fay and Hank to North Dakota on vacation.

Fay worked on her Newport Bay book and actually got it finished--yea!! It is a great feeling when you get a book finished especially if you have been working on it for a long time. I especially like the little stone type alpha stickers she found for a buck! Cool!!!

Our next workshop is on October 6th and is a special one because we are going to make little scapbook boxes and some cards. See ya there!
